Research essay of the tsunamis

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

Assessment Brief: You have been engaged by a Ministerial Policy Advisor to provide expert research and advice regarding the intersection of Natural Hazards and Human Vulnerability. You are to select the following topics and write a research essay, addressing the key question and concluding with evidence based, policy recommendations.

The topic is:
Tsunamis are only considered disasters because of the human context in which they occur. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Use examples of known tsunami events to illustrate your argument(s).

And this is the essay of the unit “Extreme Earth! Natural hazards and human vulnerability”. This unit takes as its starting point the catastrophes of our world today, such as droughts, earthquakes, epidemics, fires, floods, hurricanes, landslides, tsunamis and weather extremes, and seeks to provide a blended understanding between the mechanics and dynamics of these environmental phenomena with the social contexts in which these disasters occur. This subject analyses the wide range of environmental processes (hazards) that pose risks to human lives, livelihoods and settlements, and brings together physical and human geographical approaches to explore how risk in a chosen area is a function of both the hazards and the community’s vulnerability. Local and international case studies form a central component of this unit. As well, questions pertaining to the role of international aid and risk management (including mitigation, protection and adaptation strategies) will be discussed.

Their friend Will thinks the idea is great and would like to get involved in the business venture. English research

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

In this discussion, we explore research interests for Essay 3, the most important essay of our Spring 2016 English 102. With any luck, we can also exchange ideas about possible resources for the additional materials required for the assignment.

Begin by describing what has caught your interest, including a possible topic for further inquiry, and proceed by sharing two to three real research questions by 23:55 Wednesday, April 27. You can also post an outline if you are further along. And if you have already made progress with your research and have found some promising sources about some of the authors featured in Session 4, please share these resources as well.

A day or two later, but no later than 23:55 Friday, April 29, take a look at the proposed questions of two of your colleagues and give them an honest evaluation: Are the proposed questions real research questions? Are they questions that can only be answered by getting and synthesizing from additional materials? Though you should be respectful, feel free to tell your colleague if you think the questions won’t work, are too canned, or won’t lead to any real research. Just try to explain what’s wrong or unclear, as writers often need specific feedback to be able to improve their work.

What are good research questions? Good research questions have the following features:

1) They are real questions—that is, they are questions you cannot answer with your current knowledge;

2) They are limited in scope—that is, they apply to a limited time period, a specific group, a specific place;

3) They address issues and processes that you can observe;

4) Once you answer them, they help add to everyone’s background knowledge and overall understanding.

Interview Analysis

Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

For your Unit 9 Interview Analysis, you will conduct two interviews with practicing professionals in the field of law enforcement. These individuals may occupy positions in federal, state, county, or municipal police agencies, probation, parole, or prosecutors’ offices.

It is preferable that you conduct the interviews in person, but telephone interviews will be acceptable if in-person interviews cannot be arranged.

Focus on the following questions in your interviews:

Why are ethics and character so important in the field of law enforcement?

Do the interviewees feel that police are more ethical today, or were they more ethical 10 years ago?

Why do police officers become involved in misconduct?

Do the interviewees feel that there is enough training offered in ethics at the police academy level? If not, why is that?

Should ethics training be offered as an ongoing process for law enforcement officers?

Do the interviewees feel that education and/or training in ethics would reduce incidents of police corruption?

Report the results of these interviews in a paper that answers the proposed questions. Apply to your paper information that has been read and discussed in class on various ethical issues to form a synthesis of practical law enforcement ideologies.

**Be sure to discuss with the interviewees at least four contemporary ethical issues that they are dealing with as criminal justice practitioners.

Finally, offer your own insights on the perspectives of the individuals you interviewed and materials covered in the text readings and Seminar discussions.

The paper will be a minimum of 10 double-spaced pages using a 12-point font. It must be in American Psychological Association (APA) format.

Note: This Assignment will require outside research. Use at least two credible sources beyond the text material and discuss how you evaluated the credibility of the resources use proper citations in APA style.
