PAPER: While you ride, make observations and take notes on the following: How does the city change as you travel? Where are you? What areas/neighborhoods are you passing through? What does it look like out the window (what do you see in terms of buildings, city planning, cleanliness, social gatherings, etc)? Observe the people getting on and off the train at various stops along the way. Consider class, race, gender, occupation, reason for riding, etc. What do people do on the El? How do they interact with each other? In a paper (1 1/2 to 2 pages, typed in MLA format) share your observations/reflections on those questions, and address the following question: What can be learned about the city of Chicago by riding the Red Line?
