Week 4 (Assignment 1 Presentation of Analysis and Synthesis of Research)
Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements
As the Presenter for this 2-week unit, based on your own prior knowledge and current research, you will present a 7- to 10-slide PowerPoint presentation on the importance and elements of contract management for partnerships. Your goal will be to focus your colleague’s attention on the skills, knowledge and experience needed for effective oversight and/or management.
You should strive to be as persuasive as possible that the specific concepts you have reviewed are exciting research avenues and that they are potentially breakthrough areas in the understanding of how to be a savvy strategic HR partner, from recommending key elements needed in contracts and management of contracts, to analyzing communications competencies for HR leaders pursuing alternative delivery strategies.
Your presentation should contain the following elements:
· Incorporation and analysis of the Required Resources from this 2-week unit
· Incorporation and analysis of at least three additional resources from the Walden Library
· Identification of principal schools of thought, tendencies in the academic literature, or commonalities that define the academic scholarship regarding your topic
· Evaluation of the main concepts with a focus on their application to management practice and their impact on positive social change
· Incorporation of the Learning Objectives from this 2-week unit
Discussion 2 Presentation Peer Review Presenter and Participants
Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements

· An annotated bibliography of at least five additional resources related to the research topic.
In the subject line of your reply, replace the text with “Your First Name Last Name’s Response to First Name Last Name’s Presentation” (for example, “Jeff Smith’s Response to Melissa Gore”). This will ensure it is easily identifiable by your Instructor and your colleagues.
Presenter(s) and Participants:
Between Day 3 and Day 7 of Week 5, continue the Discussion on both the Participants’ and Presenter(s)’ postings by addressing the following summative considerations that pertain specifically to the topics for this 2-week unit:
· In what ways do the readings, provided in this week’s Learning Resources and those identified by you and your colleagues, answer important “so what?” questions in the field of human resources?
· How are these readings potentially valuable for research in the field?
· Are there any important gaps (i.e., contradictions, arguments, disagreements, or areas of divergence) within this set of readings that point to potential topics for future research?
· How would you follow up to extend or explore these gaps?
How might the process of AAA and reporting, applied to partnerships, alliances, or other
Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements
With every effort or action of an individual, a lesson may be learned. For organizations with large groups of individuals, many lessons can be learned as a result every endeavor. Even so, many organizations fail to allow the time or allocate enough resources to critique or analyze things that worked, as well as things that did not. Only if this step is part of the systems approach to organizational learning can key insights be used as leverage to avoid repeating past mistakes.
After action analysis (AAA) and reporting was developed in the military in the 50s and 60s, and has long since been used in many industries to learn from previous decisions made and actions taken. The business world has come to realize the usefulness of AAA to improve their processes and thus, create a competitive advantage.
By Day 3 of Week 6
Post a response to the following Discussion questions/prompts in the Discussion 1 – Week 6 thread accordingly, based on this week’s readings and your own academic research:
1. How might the process of AAA and reporting, applied to partnerships, alliances, or other collaborative efforts, potentially yield a new system view?
2. Could this new system view include innovation as well as negative outcomes? Explain.
3. How could AAA best be used to advance partnering concepts?
: Final Project: Final Paper and Flowchart Submission
Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements
The Final Project for this course
will entail creating a process for HR to use to assess potential partnerships
and alliances. It should be based on steps required of due diligence, while
drawing upon the unique knowledge and experience of HR. You will develop your
own preferred model of how this process will work, based on readings and
integrated learning derived throughout the course. It is imperative to be clear
about what organizational capacity is and how to build it when developing such
a model. Care should be taken to incorporate theoretical context for the flow
of the model. A rapid-fire graphic flow chart will be part of
this project. You might well be able to use this chart immediately in an HR
leadership position as part of your pragmatic application toolkit.
The question, then, as always, is
where do you begin in assessing internal capabilities that create
organizational capacity, before looking for complementary talent, expertise,
and service externally? In this seminar, you will select an organization with
which you are familiar, and develop a process for its HR to use to assess
potential partnerships and alliances.
Paper
Across the first 7 weeks of the
course, three sections of the final paper will be introduced—each consisting of
5–7 pages. (These sections will be turned in as parts of your Final Paper,
which is due in Week 7.) The paper should include an extensive context for
building organizational capacity and defining the role of HR leaders today.
Some background on partnership and alliance models, for use by HR leaders and
organizations, must be part of the context. The paper should also conclude with
recommendations for this process as a tool in your chosen organization, and in
dynamic business environments that require optimal organizational agility.
Your Final Paper should adhere to APA
format (6th edition), which requires a title page, an abstract, a reference
list, and appropriate sections and their headings. Your paper should include
your Week 3 annotated Bibliography: A thorough review of the literature
(minimum of 20 resources, with 85% being five or less years old and peer
reviewed) that shows evidence of a potential research opportunity/gap that has
not been discussed in the academic literature.
Flowchart
Your flowchart should illustrate the
process that assesses potential models that address your organization’s needs
for high-growth and capacity within today’s challenging business environment.
Assignment 1: Final Paper: Topic
Submit a high-level summary of
your final paper to your Instructor, who will reply with feedback and
suggestions for you to integrate into your work.
Section 1: Begin Writing Final Paper
(5–7 pages)
For the first section of your Final
Paper, you will identify and analyze five key steps you believe are necessary to
create an assessment process and establish a sequenced flow. This should
demonstrate your understanding of how organizational capacity is built and
managed.
Section 2: Continue Writing Final
Paper (5–7 pages)
Drawing upon the insights you have
gained from this 2-week unit’s learning activities and your own academic
research, apply your insight to your chosen organization. Referring to the “how
to” link (http:/ / www brighthubpm
com/methods-strategies/76008-looking-for-gaps-walking-through-a-sample-analysis/),
conduct a gap analysis as part of the process employed in determining what the
organization is missing in building capacity and agility internally.
As you write Section 2 of your Final
Paper, consider the variables that influence organizational capacity, and
analyze the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing, alliances, and
partnerships in building organizational agility and capacity. As you evaluate
potential models of partnerships and alliances for your chosen organization,
note the variables that impact and influence them (e.g., size, culture, or
mission). Acknowledge other models HR professionals use in assessing different
types of business partnerships and evaluating opportunities to create
organizational leverage.
Section 3: Continue Writing Final
Paper (5–7 pages)
One of the most important facets of
an alliance, partnership, or outsourcing is setting clear expectations for all
parties. Each must understand what is expected in order to avoid surprises or
unanticipated outcomes. Knowing when intervention is necessary is crucial in
oversight.
As you write Section 3 of your Final
Paper, consider the negotiations and leadership competencies that are needed
for optimal alternative delivery oversight. Drawing upon and applying the insights
you have gained from this 2-week unit’s learning activities and your own
academic research, create an implementation plan for the elements that require
oversight in partnerships and alliances, and which will support the
competencies brought to the table by your organization’s HR.
Assignment 2: Final Project: Final
Paper and Flowchart Submission
As you compile, edit, and finalize
the three main sections of your paper and build your flowchart, identify the
processes you might recommend to organizational leaders for critiquing and
improving business practices. Explain how you would design a decision-making
process flow to evaluate key elements in using partnering or outsourcing to
build agility and capacity in your chosen organization.
Flowchart
Your flowchart should illustrate the process that assesses potential models
that address your organization’s needs for high-growth and capacity within
today’s challenging business environment.
Submit your Final Paper and flowchart complied into one document.
Week 8 DQ 1 Looking Forward & DQ 2 Final Course Reflection.
Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements
In trying to decide what to expect from a friend in a given situation, you might look back at your history with that person for clues. Similarly, you might look at the history of HRM in order to forecast future trends.
By Day 3 of Week 8
Post a response to the following:
In looking forward, if today gives us any sense of what works in creating capacity in organizations using innovative and collaborative efforts (networking), versus isolation strategies, what should we expect in the next 10 years? How should HR leaders position themselves for this emergence? Explain with whom HR should strategically partner internally to advance an organization’s understanding and readiness?
DDBA/8580 Week 8 Discussion 2 Final Course Reflection
Discussion 2: Final Course Reflection
By Day 5
Post a response to the following:
In reflecting upon key lessons derived from this course, in content, discussion, and opposing views, what pivotal insight(s) have you identified that will change the way you practice or approach your work? This can be the way you work as a leader either within the practice of HR, or within a closely related leadership role requiring similar knowledge and expertise.
By Day 6
Respond to your colleagues’ postings by addressing one or more of the following summative considerations:
· As a final thought for the course, think about how you would integrate the information you have learned in this seminar into a philosophy of strategic HR efforts.
· Have your viewpoints changed from when you first began this course? Discuss how your viewpoints changed, if at all, and why.
SALES ETHICS.
Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements
Barbara’s Brownies produces different varieties of brownies that she sells to grocery, candy, and gift shops. These sales are made with the terms FOB shipping point, and she generally ships the brownies on the same day that the order is received or on the next day if necessary. The company’s fiscal year end is December 31. During the last week of December Barbara takes a look at her financial reports before deciding when to ship orders received that week. If sales and profits for the month and year have been good, she may delay shipments until early January. If sales and profits have been poor, she will deliver all that she can in December.
1. With terms of FOB shipping point, when does Barbara record a sale? If she ships in January and records the sale in January has she violated any accounting rules?
2. Do you think it is ethical for Barbara to delay shipments until the next year? Why or why not? Who may be harmed by that decision?
3. What impact will delaying the recording of sales until January have on her financial statements for December and January? Who may be harmed by that decision?
